ATHLETICS

Boys Soccer - Boys Soccer practice after school TODAY. Permission forms must be brought in. Wear shin guards and socks. We need a full turnout.

Badminton - congrats to those who competed in the Zone Championships these past two weeks. A big congratulations to Keira Dexter who qualified for the Grade 9 SOSSA Championship in Girls Singles next Monday. Thanks for the great season by all players and good luck on Monday Keira!

Tomorrow is the last day to nominate your Valedictorian. Pick up nomination form in Guidance.

A quick reminder that there is a trip to the Shaw Festival planned for Wednesday, May 8th. We will be seeing “Witness for the Prosecution”, a murder mystery play based on an Agatha Christie novel! Seats are filling up fast, so please see Ms. Falardeau or Ms. Sacco if you are interested in attending.


LIBRARY LEARNING COMMONS - This is a reminder to students with overdue library books.  Please have them renewed or returned to the library.

ECO CLUB - Thank you to all who participated in yesterday’s Earth Day Neighbourhood Clean up! A special thank you to Caretaker Jason for all of his assistance. During this clean up, we collected almost everything you can think of and filled a third of the dumpster. Amazing job, Secord!

Happy Earth Day! The very first Earth Day happened in 1970; that’s 24 years ago!  One of the inspirations for changing our perspective was “Moonrise”; the first photo taken of the pale blue dot; our one and only home.  Do something good for Earth today. If you are in a period 3 class that is participating in today’s Earth Day Clean up, go to your class ON TIME for attendance and then follow your teacher’s instructions. Let’s pitch in!

Brendan Taylor and Everton Stewart represented Secord at the DSBN chess tournament on Friday. While each player did well, congratulations to Brendan, who placed 3rd in the Grade 10 division! Well-done to all the players who competed in tournaments this year!

DANCE - Yesterday, the Secord Dance Team travelled to Milton to compete at Strive Dance challenge. It was a tough competition with 26 schools competing in total. Kala Lafleche-Lauzon, Brooklyn Stukel and Sophie Cheevers were recognized with special awards from the judges. Kala and Brooklyn also won dance scholarships for their performances. Our duet featuring Kala Lafleche-Lauzon and Jersey Martin placed 1st overall in the mixed duets/trios. Kala also placed 3rd overall for her elite solo. We had a strong showing from our group dances. Our contemporary team placed 1st in their category and our open team placed 2nd overall for mixed small groups.
