Rotary Medalists - Grade 12s.  It’s time to vote for this year’s Rotary Medalists. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self” and this year’s nominees (as selected by staff) are Olivia Breakspeare, Jack Bull and Teagen Mcdonald.  In the grade 12 D2L page there is a Google form to cast your votes.  There you will find the student biographies.  Please read these over before making your selections and know that voting will close this Friday, April 19.

Secord Music presents “Seasons of Jazz” next Thursday, April 25! Come out and support your Secord Musicians for a lovely evening of jazz music from Jazz Band, Jazz Choirs and a number of small combos.

DANCE - Yesterday, the Secord Dance Team travelled to Milton to compete at Strive Dance challenge. It was a tough competition with 26 schools competing in total. Kala Lafleche-Lauzon, Brooklyn Stukel and Sophie Cheevers were recognized with special awards from the judges. Kala and Brooklyn also won dance scholarships for their performances. Our duet featuring Kala Lafleche-Lauzon and Jersey Martin placed 1st overall in the mixed duets/trios. Kala also placed 3rd overall for her elite solo. We had a strong showing from our group dances. Our contemporary team placed 1st in their category and our open team placed 2nd overall for mixed small groups.

ATHLETICS

Girls SloPitch - All girls interested in playing Slo Pitch this year are asked to sign up on the athletic board outside of the gym.  The tournament date is May 21.  You have to be available for that date.

Badminton - congrats to all badminton players who competed so far in the subzone tournaments. Congrats to Keira, Holden, Nick and Grayson for moving on to the Grade 9 Zone tournament next Wednesday. And congrats to Angelo, James, Caitlin, Colin, Mylo and Nick who will be competing in the senior zone tournament tomorrow.

Ultimate- congrats to the Ultimate Team who competed in their first tournament yesterday. A reminder that there is NO practice tonight, but that we will meet tomorrow for practice after school.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Thank you to all who came out last night to our Battle and thank you to our Music Department for the generous lending of equipment. Thank you also to our staff chaperones. All four of the bands did a great job for sure and the energy was rockin.  Our 2nd Place winners were The Teacups and the WINNING BAND was Neo Freudian Hydrophobic Loan Sharks.
